SEA stands for Search Engine Advertising and is when you purchase advertising space in the search engine results page (SERP). These ads are usually bought on a pay-per-click basis and based on keywords for which you want to be found.

Sponsored links are usually placed at the top of the search results page and are identified with an ‘ad’ mention next to them. SEA is often part of an SEM (Search Engine Marketing) strategy and is different from SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
